33rd Annual Portland Historic Races
 Car Race BMW Corral
July 10-12, 2009

You do not need to be a BMW ACA Portland member to join us for this event but
we would like you to consider joining our club if you enjoy the event!

IMSA GTP as the feature for the 2009 event!

We need you and your car at this event!  Turnout is lower than past years and we want to put out a good showing -- plus continue the Autocross dominance of 4 years!  To attend contact Larry Kniess at lkniess@bmwacaportland.com or Gary Heller at gheller@windermere.com -- and/or send your check made payable to BMW ACA Portland to: Gary Heller, Windermere, 850 Officers Row, Vancouver, WA  98661.  We need a good headcount and time is critically short to provide to the organizers. Please sign up ASAP if you are planning on attending.

On the heels of a successful 2008 event, the Baxter Auto Parts Portland Historic Races has announced International Motorsports Association (IMSA) Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) cars as its feature for 2009. The sleek, aerodynamic race cars will be part of a celebration of 40 years of IMSA. As IMSA’s initial series in 1969 was Formula Vee and Formula Ford, the Portland Historic Races will also be inviting Formula Fords from around the country to participate. Local race car champion Parker Johnstone of Wilsonville, who drives a 1988 Spice/Acura GTP/L, has been tapped as the race’s Grand Marshal. The 33rd annual Portland Historic Races will take place July 10 through 12, 2009, at Portland International Raceway.

Yes it is time again to start planning to attend the “best attended” club event of the year.  You will not want to miss this event.  The historic car races are held at Portland International Raceway here in Portland.  As a car club, we are invited to display our cars along with all the other car clubs in local area.  A “corral” will be set up for the cars at a prime spot inside the track area as last year. Our space allotted is dependent upon how many cars are registered so please register as soon as registration is active.

This years registration process will be online thru MotorsportsReg. Registration is open until May 22, 2009.

For the cost of $45.00 you will get two (2) three-day passes to the races, reserved inside parking on Saturday and Sunday (inside parking on Friday), a commemorative dash plaque and an opportunity to participate in the Parade Lap around the actual track.  Our club will have a tent set up with munchies and refreshments.  The local BMW dealerships have always been very generous with their support by supplying lots of Door prizes.

Come join us for the Collector Car Club Autocross!!!  The autocross is set-up in the pro-pits.  All proceeds for this activity will go directly to the Community Transitional School. Hours of operation are:  Saturday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. The autocross will not run during lunch time due to the car parade.  The order of running will be first come, first serve, based on when you sign-up your Club.  Just head on over to the Autocross area and sign your club up!   The cost in the past has been $5 per run/per car.  The BMW Club has been the top fundraiser for this event every year!

There will be more information coming in the upcoming weeks.  Please keep your eyes open and check the website regularly.  Polish up your great German car and plan on attending.  The event goes on – Rain or Shine!

The BMW Corral is for BMW automobiles and motorcycles only!!
