July 10-12, 2009
You do not need to be a BMW ACA Portland member to join us for this event but
we would like you to consider joining our club if you enjoy the event!
IMSA GTP as the feature for the 2009 event!
We need you and your car at this event! Turnout is lower than past years and we want to put out a good showing -- plus continue the Autocross dominance of 4 years! To attend contact Larry Kniess at lkniess@bmwacaportland.com or Gary Heller at gheller@windermere.com -- and/or send your check made payable to BMW ACA Portland to: Gary Heller, Windermere, 850 Officers Row, Vancouver, WA 98661. We need a good headcount and time is critically short to provide to the organizers. Please sign up ASAP if you are planning on attending.
On the heels of a successful 2008 event, the Baxter Auto Parts Portland Historic Races has announced International Motorsports Association (IMSA) Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) cars as its feature for 2009. The sleek, aerodynamic race cars will be part of a celebration of 40 years of IMSA. As IMSA’s initial series in 1969 was Formula Vee and Formula Ford, the Portland Historic Races will also be inviting Formula Fords from around the country to participate. Local race car champion Parker Johnstone of Wilsonville, who drives a 1988 Spice/Acura GTP/L, has been tapped as the race’s Grand Marshal. The 33rd annual Portland Historic Races will take place July 10 through 12, 2009, at Portland International Raceway.

A very popular tour brought back from the past! Who could forget Dean Shindell and his spectacular BMW M1 during our 2004 Dooger's tour? On Saturday, July 18, 2009 we will be returning. Our route takes us through Vernonia, Mist, and then to Cannon Beach. Dooger's is a great seafood restaurant with a sizable room for us to use.
After lunch, you can go into town and visit the many shops and art galleries. A very enjoyable day, indeed!

Come and discuss the summer events, plan the Holiday Party, hear about upcoming events, like Octoberfest at Pacific Motorsports.
Mark Dikeos and the crew at Pacific Motorsports will once again host the club for an Octoberfest at their shop on Powell Blvd.
Join us for some food and beverages, (Mark always has great beer!) Thursday October 8th at 7pm, and tour the Portland area's premier independent BMW service, repair and upgrade facility.
Our November meeting will be at O'Connor's in Multnomah Village where our guests will be Logan Gray of Vintage Motorbooks, and Al Kinney of ClearBra of Oregon.

Well it's a new year and time to gather again for a club meeting. Janurary's meeting is back at O'Connor's Restaurant in Multnomah Village, on Thursday night Jan 7th at 7 pm. As always we'll be in the O'Connor's Annex (left most door).

This months dinner will be held at the Laurelwood Public House & Brewery on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 7:00pm.
When planning for this months dinner I remembered the main reason that I have not been to more, lack of babysitting. So this month we are going to my son's favorite restaurant. I really enjoy the beer (and food). The atmosphere is casual, we will be in a private room upstairs, and the food is good quality pub fare.
Come by and sample some of there award winning beer and spend an evening with friends.
This month Genevieve and Tad Remington chose the location of our dinner. On Wednesday, February 24th at 7pm we will be dining at Rice Thai Cookery in West Linn. The restaurant has an "interior that's simple but striking, cool but not pretentious, new yet old-looking; with recipes that are fresh and authentic; service that's homelike, casual and friendly; and a price that's easy on the wallet."
Please RSVP to elvis@bmwacaportland.com by the 23rd.

Thats right, the March club dinner will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 7pm at Nostrana.
Eater PDX describes Nostrana as:
"Intensely regional Italian food, wood-fired oven pizza, and nothing on the entire menu for more than $20 make Cathy Whims (once of Genoa) the most renowned woman chef in … Portland. A barrel vaulted exposed wood ceiling, tons of windows, and just enough chatter to brighten things up make Nostrana the most renowned casual-enough place in town."
So why not join your local BMW friends to enjoy a wonderful dinner.
