Firehouse at 711 NE Dekum St, Portland
You will really enjoy this month's dinner! The restaurant is located in the historic Dekum Firehouse built in 1913. The building was carefully renovated over a 6 month period, opening last June. Justin Rideout, owner of the two-story building, constructed Firehouse's tables and banquettes from reclaimed rough-sawn fir. The City of Portland Archives gave them vintage digital images, which they enlarged and hung throughout Firehouse. Renovation revealed the original ceiling beams and brick walls. The first floor housed the fire engines and horse stable. We will have a private room upstairs in the former fireman's quarters.
For our March Meeting we will go karting!
Thursday March 12th 7pm (Note the different night)
Sykart Indoor Racing Center
8205 SW Hunziker St

Each 8 minute race is $15, if you buy 3 you get a 4th free. If you get a membership ($30) your races are only $10 Monday through Friday.

This month for our General meeting, we're taking the show on the road and we'll be hosted by LUXE Autohaus. So mark you calendars for 4/14/09, at 7pm. I'm told there will be some food and some cold sudsy beverage of some sort.
LUXE Autohaus has a nice 33,000 square foot indoor showroom where they offer late-model, low mileage luxury and sport European vehicles. Their showroom is at 410 NE 17th, Portland OR 97232. (1 block north of NE Sandy, corner of NE 17th and NE Glisan). If you get lost their number is 503-233-5895.
Hello Club members,
For this month’s Club dinner, we will visit Typhoon! In Beaverton. The restaurant is well known for excellent Thai food. And the setting in The Round is great! With an industrial feel, the restaurant has steel garage doors that are open on nice evenings. You can park nearby or take Max as it is just to the north of the tracks.
For our May general meeting we'll be visiting a new shop that just opened. TechShop is a membership based workshop that gives you access to a wide variety of equipment, tools, training. Located in Beaverton, they have 36,000 square feet available for members to use. So if you do not have space in your garage for that next machine, nor the budget for an expensive dedicated machine? This place might be for you.
This month’s BMW club dinner is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th at Weatherford’s Grand Lodge in Oregon City. The restaurant is located in the historic Independent Order of Odd Fellows building. Highly recommended by our own Doug Buchner, this restaurant features a wide variety of menu items. We will have a separate banquet room; separate checks are OK.

we would like you to consider joining our club if you enjoy the event!
IMSA GTP as the feature for the 2009 event!
We need you and your car at this event! Turnout is lower than past years and we want to put out a good showing -- plus continue the Autocross dominance of 4 years! To attend contact Larry Kniess at lkniess@bmwacaportland.com or Gary Heller at gheller@windermere.com -- and/or send your check made payable to BMW ACA Portland to: Gary Heller, Windermere, 850 Officers Row, Vancouver, WA 98661. On the heels of a successful 2008 event, the Baxter Auto Parts Portland Historic Races has announced International Motorsports Association (IMSA) Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) cars as its feature for 2009. The sleek, aerodynamic race cars will be part of a celebration of 40 years of IMSA. As IMSA’s initial series in 1969 was Formula Vee and Formula Ford, the Portland Historic Races will also be inviting Formula Fords from around the country to participate. Local race car champion Parker Johnstone of Wilsonville, who drives a 1988 Spice/Acura GTP/L, has been tapped as the race’s Grand Marshal. The 33rd annual Portland Historic Races will take place July 10 through 12, 2009, at Portland International Raceway.
