Yes the Portland BMW Club turns 40 this year!!! Mark your calendar to attend what promises to be an extraordinary celebration of 40 years of fun, cars, and friends. In addition to the Historics, the club will have numerous "special events" throughout the weekend to celebrate -- including the Smash Car, Hooters Pit Crew, prize drawings, and much more!!! Register today for the fun. The 35th annual Portland Historic Races will take place July 8 through 10, 2011 at Portland International Raceway, 1940 N Victory Blvd, Portland, Oregon.
This year on Saturday afternoon, the famous Hooters Pit Crew will be at the Corral signing autographs and for photos at the parade lap and immediately following. Make your car very happy with a photo shoot, and yourself with Hooters promo offers.
The smash car is back this year with all swings of the sledge hammer going to charity. Kids are welcome to come and whack the car!!!
The Portland Historic Races features an annual entry list of more than 250 prestigious historic race cars, representing a wide variety of manufacturers. The restored cars are divided into groups according to make, age and horsepower, where they are raced. The Portland Historic Races allow enthusiasts the opportunity to see race cars up close and interact with the drivers and crew. The event also features a visual display of more than 700 collector cars and hot rods. The Portland BMW Club has consistently brought in the most cars for the Collector Car Corrals of any marque club. This is a great shine and show event so get your BMW car or BMW motorcycle ready!
The Autocross event is a fundraiser for the Community Transitional School, a Portland-based organization that provides important educational services to children who are homeless or otherwise at risk of school failure. All runs are $5.00 and proceeds go to this charity. The Portland BMW has raised the most at this event for the past six years.
The Portland Historic Races run daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets cost $45 for all three days and include Saturday lunch at the Corral. Children under the age of 12 are admitted for free when accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is required to park in the corral. Purchase deadline is July 1, 2011. As the track gets hot and closes access to the corrals, you need to plan to arrive very early in the day and avoid the long line of cars waiting to access the center area -- 8:00 am is best. Tickets are available online at portlandbmwclub.motorsportreg.com. For more info contact Gary Heller at historics@portlandbmwclub.com. Facebook
